Touchstone Whippets

Cdn Ch Touchstone A Summer Breeze

Brie (aka Mini Me, because she is so much like her Mom personality wise) is a petite 18 inch blue fawn female.  Whelped May 30, 2008 by Cdn Ch Frontrunner's Full Monty ex Cdn Ch Avalonia Blueberry Lemonade, Brie has absolutely breathtaking movement with an excellent front assembly (that is so seldom seen in the whippet in this era) and the rear angulation to match the front.

Brie was entered in her first show at 10 months of age ( when we thought she had matured enough to (possibly) keep all four feet on the floor most of the time).  Brie has never done anything half-hearted and this show was no different.  At her first show she thrilled us as she went Winners Bitch, Best of Opposite Sex and Best Puppy In Breed.  We thought that going into the Puppy Group would give her a little more ring experience and more experience she got as she was chosen Best in Puppy Group.

The next day, Brie was Winners Bitch, Best Of Breed (over a Special) and Best Puppy In Breed.  In group judging, Brie moved her way right to Hound Group 3rd!!!

Brie went to the Ottawa shows later in May/09 at 11 months and was Reserve Winners Bitch to housemate Avalonia Trixie Smith, two days and on the third, was Winners Bitch. It was at this show that Brie showed everyone her determined personality.  I had shown her to first in Bred By Exhibitor and then had to go in the ring with Riley in Open.  I had asked our good friend, Keith Garland, to take Brie in for Winners judging so he was outside the showring with her. Brie (who thinks she calls the shots, and does if she can get away with it) decided that wasn't going to happen.  As I am in the ring with 'reluctant Riley' beautifully setup, I hear a collective gasp from ringside and those dreaded words "loose dog".  In my heart and my mind, I knew 'who' that loose dog was and sure enough, Brie came flying  over the ring and over Riley, into my lap, with hugs and kisses, saying "It's OK Mom, I escaped from that bad man who was trying to steal me".  The judge had a good laugh and in the end awarded Brie, Winners Bitch.  [Keith still swears he was just trying to make sure Brie got a second look.]

At the Kars show (July/09) Brie was awarded Winners Bitch, Best of Winners and Best of Breed over Specials.  Onto Valley Kennel Club where she was again Winners Bitch, Best Of Winners and Best of Breed over Specials to finish the requirements for her Canadian Championship.  Brie then went into group judging and with movement and showmanship moved her way to Hound Group 1st.

Brie will now stay home to mature and will be back in the future to show off her absolutely breathtaking movement.  In her very limited showing in 2009 (4 shows) she ended the year (as per the unofficial results of Canuck Dogs) as #32 Whippet in Canada, # 21 Whippet in Ontario and #21 Puppy in Canada.

Pictured above (captured in a candid ringside photo by Dean Dennis) is Brie doing what she does best - moving.  We have been told many times, by many different people - judges, exhibitors and ringside viewers  - " you could set a teacup on her back and it wouldn't move - she just floats".
