January 2010
Touchstone Whippets wishes everyone a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
The whippets love playing in all the snow we are getting, but they are not too fond of -30 degree weather, so they spend a lot of time bird watching and chasing the 'bunny' (Trouble, the siamese cat) up and down the halls, the rest of their time is spent curled under blankets, dreaming of sun and warm weather. Me, I agree with the whippets about the weather, but Kevin is loving it and spending his spare time snowmobiling. |

February 2010
Cold, cold, cold, but it is February and therefore getting closer to spring. The withdrawals are getting stronger so we are starting to plan for some shows for the youngsters, and that gives us something to look forward to besides cold and snow. And to give us something else to look forward to - possibly, a new addition to Touchstone! |

March 20 - the first day of spring - a time of new growth and hope, and this day saw Touchstone Whippets growing also as we welcomed our newest family member (and colour) to our household - DuMond Gosling's - an absolutely lovely black and white male, whelped November 4, 2009, sired by DuMond Ernest Hemingway(Am/Cdn pts) out of DuMond Dancing Queen. We would like to thank Jalynn Almond (DuMond Whippets, Maryland, USA) for entrusting us with this personable young man. Look for him in the show ring this summer and watch for his page to be added soon.

Our litter by Cdn Ch Avalonia Bondi At Touchstone out of Avalonia Trixie Smith (pts) is now 9 weeks old. The time has come that all breeders hate to see - the time for the puppies to move on to new homes. But we also know that each puppy deserves to have people and a family they can call their own, where they are the 'special' one. We are so lucky and our puppies are so lucky, they have found families who cherish their new family member. Brody and Riley are pleased to show you pictures of our "Surprise" litter, just a few days before the puppies took over their new jobs of ruling another household. Watch out, there's a surprise coming!!!!!

Our litter by Cdn Ch Avalonia Trick or Treat out of Cdn Ch Avalonia Blueberry Lemonade is now 6 weeks old and into everything. The quality in this litter is outstanding and is making it extremely difficult for us to choose which of these lovely puppies we will be growing on at Touchstone.
The puppies have all inherited their mother's "it's all about me" attitude, which is what makes her such an exceptional showgirl and we are hoping it also carries over into these puppies' show careers, as it did hers. But that is the future, for now they are just "blue, beautiful and bad" Tricky and Summer are proud to present the latest photos of their babes taken at 6 weeks of age. Some of them were not thrilled with the 'photo shoot' but the quality is still apparent. Take a peek at "The Blues Litter" being unco-operative (in other words - Bad) |

Cdn Ch Avalonia Bondi at Touchstone and Avalonia Trixie Smith are pleased to announce the birth of their puppies on March 4, 2009. Brody and Riley are now the proud parents of 8 beautiful babies - 6 males and 2 females. Mom and babies are healthy and doing well. Dad is not doing quite as well because he misses being with Mom. |

2008
2008 started out for Touchstone Whippets with just an inkling of what was to come in the year.
January 26, our friends and mentors, Lanny and Mick Morry had a litter of puppies out of the incomparable Eng Cdn Ch Nevedith Ceefa Ceely sired by their beautiful Cdn Ch Avalonia Edradour. This litter contained what we hoped would be our future foundation stud dog. Early in the spring we brought home Avalonia Bondi At Touchstone, 'Brody', a striking white and watermarked fawn with dark eyes. |

May 30, Cdn Ch Avalonia Blueberry Lemonade whelped her first litter of two puppies, sired by Cdn Ch Frontrunner's Full Monty. We retained the lovely, petite blue fawn and white female, Touchstone A Summer Breeze. |

In July, we decided to bring our 'stay-at-home' girl, Avalonia Trixie Smith, back out to the shows (much to her dismay). At the Valley Kennel Club show, she was Winners Bitch under Australian judge Betty Stepkovitch. Riley then went on to the Limestone Kennel Club show, where she was Winners Bitch and Best of Winners under judge R. William Taylor. The next day at Limestone, Brody was entered in his first show and he thrilled us and his breeders by going Winners Dog, Best of Winners, Best of Opposite Sex and Best Puppy in Breed for his first 3 points under judge Mark Houston-McMillan. |
|
|
Avalonia Bondi At Touchstone then went to SD & G shows where he was Winners Dog for each of the 3 days that he was entered. Brody was beginning to think he was on a roll so on to the Cornwall show, where he was entered in the CASA Specialty show. To add a little interest to what he had already accomplished he was Best In Specialty Sweepstakes under judge Heather Lovett and then Winners Dog under judge Lisa Avery to finish his Canadian championship at the tender age of 7 months 4 days. |
|
|
In October, because Brody had finished his championship so quickly, we decided to enter him at the Belleville Kennel Club shows just to give him a little more experience in the show ring. Just to give us one more thrill with this exquisite puppy, Brody was Best Puppy in Group under judge Ms Mike McBeth. |
|
|
We decided to finish out the show year by entering the Ottawa Kennel Club show. Brody was Best Puppy in Breed under judges Roberto del Puerto and Loraine Boutwell and Riley, who had honoured us with her presence, was Winners Bitch under judge Roberto del Puerto, for 2 points to bring her total to 6 to finish the year. |
